WRITER AND POLITICAL COMMENTATOR

Siobhán Fenton is a writer and journalist on Irish and British politics, based in Belfast.

Her writing has been published by The Irish Independent, The Irish Times, The Guardian and The New Statesman. She has appeared as a political commentator for outlets including RTÉ, the BBC and Sky News.

She writes about Irish political strategy, with a particular focus on left-wing parties’ strategies, on Substack.

She has previously worked as a Broadcast Journalist for the BBC and Social Affairs Correspondent for the UK’s Independent.

From 2020 to 2024, she was a senior communications adviser for Sinn Féin in the Oireachtas parliament and worked as the party’s Deputy Head of Press in Leinster House.

Her first book The Good Friday Agreement was published in 2018 and she has delivered lectures and seminars about the Good Friday Agreement and Northern Irish politics at universities including the University of Cambridge, Queen’s University Belfast, Cardiff University and the University of Tübingen in Germany.

She is a graduate of the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge and qualified as a journalist at City University London with a Master’s degree in Journalism.
